Full International Safety Management (Full ISM) |
The ISM code covers everything to do with operating & managing the yacht safely; not only for the crew but also for the managers of the yacht. It is a legal requirement for all commercially registered yachts over 500GT (approx 50mtrs) to comply with this code, be audited and be issued with a certificate of compliance.
Ideally, the management safety systems should be kept as simple as possible, easy to understand for the crew and be written specially for each yacht.

Mini International Safety Management (Mini ISM) |
This is a scaled-down version of the Full-ISM code and is often a legal requirement (depending on the vessel's flag) for all commercially registered yachts between 300GT (approx 38mtrs) & 500GT (approx 50mtrs).
Many of the yachts under 300GT (approx 38mtrs) also use this Mini-ISM code on a voluntary basis or write their own code using it as a basis.

International Ship & Port Security (ISPS) |
Another code with a certificate of compliance, that is legally required for commercially registered yachts over 500GT (approx 50mtrs). This extensive code co-ordinates security of the yacht it's crew & passengers; as well as the facilities of the ports.
Its main emphasis is to make the crew aware of all the different types of security risks that can be found on the yachts, relating to their owners & guests and in the ports/areas that they frequent.

Vessel Insurance |
This covers not only hull & machinery, but also other types if insurance such as salvage (P & I Club) and third party liability.
Often owners are unaware of the small print, the exclusions or the limitations of the vessel's insurance policy. In some cases, the insurance premiums or franchises are un-necessarily high and need looking at.

|
Crew Insurance |
Principally covering health care.
The insurance policies coverage varies considerably between one policy to another, specially with health insurance, do. It's choosing the right policy to suit the yacht and its crew.

Emergency Support Delegated Person Ashore
(DPA) |
Emergency Support is is a 24/7 365 days service, that is backing-up the crew, coordinating external assistance to the yacht, appointing any technical services required and ensuring that a clear line of reporting is made to the owner; and if relevant to the authorities and insurance underwriters.
Quite rightly, owners & crew think that this is for when something critical happens to the yacht, such as it is sinking or a fire on board. Often, Emergency Support covers more ordinary happenings such as the yacht being damaged in port, during a bad storm in the area.

Safety Drill Assessment |
This is an independent assessment made by a small team, of various career backgrounds & experiences. Together with the Captain and their crew, the team's objective is to make a realistic appraisal from a practical point-of-view, of the safety systems and drills on board.
Many of the safety management systems are generic, and not written especially for the yacht & its crew. This independent assessment is often done to support the Captain's case, to make changes on board.
